As an extension of the conversations started at the Virginia Indigenous Nations in Higher Education March 2025 Summit, the State Council of Higher Education, Virginia is kicking off this new VINHE resource offering with greetings and remarks from Virginia's Ombudsman for Tribal Consultation and an introduction to understanding sovereignty, specifically as it relates to higher education.

At UVA, we are working as a community to engage in meaningful and reciprocal relations with sovereign Indigenous Nations and Tribal communities, especially the 11 sovereign nations of Virginia.
