Sarah received a PhD in Marine Science from The University of California Santa Barbara in 2011. Her research used geochemical proxies to study climate variability during the last major interglacial period. After moving to Charlottesville in 2012, she employed her research and grant-writing experience to shift her career toward advancing thriving throughout the Charlottesville community. Sarah supported offices in UVA focused on advancing women faculty in STEM fields and students of color in Engineering. For four years, she worked as a Grant Writer at the local nonprofit mental health agency, The Women’s Initiative. Her work at the Center for Community Partnerships includes working with researchers and UVA Advancement to package work into fundable projects for grant submission and donations.
